The obstacles more and more women are facing in the workplace

According to S&P Global, women's representation in senior leadership roles in 2023 fell to its lowest level in over a decade. The statistic is alarming considering the NASDAQ's diversity rule forcing companies to explain why they may not have diversity amongst their directors.

Deloitte Global Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Officer Emma Codd joins Wealth! to give insight into what obstacles women face in the workplace.

Codd gives some examples of mounting challenges for women in the workplace that chief executives should be more attentive to:

"Personal safeties... That's safety at work or when traveling to work or traveling for work. Around half of women are worried about their personal safety. Mental health — stress is on the increase. Around half of women say they don't believe their employer is providing adequate support and two-thirds of women feel uncomfortable about discussing their mental health at work. Considering the amount of time we spend at work, that's a real miss for employers. We have challenges around women's health. A growing discomfort around talking about it in the workplace, and then we have women taking on the greatest responsibility outside the home for domestic tasks, such as caring for adults, which we've seen a big increase year on year."
