YWCA, businesses host gift program

Nov. 30—HIGH POINT — You may want to look twice at that Christmas tree when shopping at certain local businesses this month.

YWCA High Point has partnered with four local retailers for its Holiday Giving Tree initiative.

From now until Dec. 15, the participating businesses will display Christmas trees containing tags bearing gift requests. Customers can take a tag from the tree, buy the item on the tag and return the item to the business or to the YWCA by Dec. 15.

The gifts will be distributed through local organizations Parents as Teachers, Healthy Beginnings and Doula.

Participating businesses include:

—Myrtle Nails, 3786 Samet Drive, High Point.

—A Special Blend, 504 N. Main St., High Point.

—A Special Blend, 3900-C W. Market Street

Greensboro, NC 27407

Paddled South

602 N Main Street

High Point, NC 27260

Tamaya Mathis, YWCA Maternal Health Director states: "YWCA is grateful for the partnership with these local businesses and the generosity of the community. Each year in December, we use the program Group Connection as a time to celebrate the holidays with our families. We provide them with a small gift of items they are in need of to show our appreciation to them for being a part of our programs. The giving trees also help us give to our families in need during the holiday season and to help families with a little something extra for the holidays."
