Here comes Tesla's 'missing piece' battery announcement

Elon Musk is expected to take to the stage shortly at Tesla's design facility near Los Angeles to announce a pair of innovative new batteries.

One will be a "home" battery, intended to store power from solar panels and enable customers to bank grid electricity from non-peak periods and use it during peak times, saving money.

The other will be a much larger "utility scale" battery that could be used to run an entire business, off the grid.

Of course, Musk could have some surprises in store for us.
