BEIJING, Sept 1 (Reuters) - China on Wednesday reported 19 new confirmed coronavirus cases in the mainland for Aug. 31, compared with 37 a day earlier, according to the National Health Commission.

Of the new infections, zero were locally transmitted, the health authority said, the same as a day earlier.

China reported 13 new asymptomatic coronavirus cases, which it does not classify as confirmed infections, compared with 14 a day earlier. No new deaths were reported.

As of Aug. 31, mainland China had recorded 94,898 confirmed cases, with the cumulative death toll unchanged at 4,636. (Reporting by Gabriel Crossley and Colin Qian; Editing by Tom Hogue)
