Brazil's Congress approves softened budget targets

BRASILIA, Sept 5 (Reuters) - Brazil's Congress on Tuesday approved softened budget targets for 2017 and 2018 on a final vote, paving the way for the government to partly roll back crippling spending cuts.

Brazil will now target a primary deficit target of 159 billion reais ($49.7 billion) for this year and next, up from 139 billion reais this year and 129 billion reais for 2018. (Reporting by Maria Carolina Marcello; Editing by Sandra Maler)
