The future of TikTok in the US remains uncertain despite its return to app stores.
Lead Edge Capital founder Mitchell Green joins Catalysts to explain why he is still confident in his ByteDance investment even though he values the company's US business at zero.
"The US just isn't that much of the overall business right now," Green states. He emphasizes that while they aren’t on ByteDance’s board, they have access to financials and senior executives — which adds transparency.
Green suggests that if the US government allows TikTok to continue operating, it could benefit investors.
"I would say that for several years we've said the value of the US business was zero. It sure appears, you know, looking in that the US government [and] Trump want to do something to keep the app in the US for US Consumers," Green says. "I think as a US investor, we will probably actually accrue some value to it — that we had really created no value in our model."
