Why Walmart can beat 'high' Q4 earnings expectations

In This Article:

Walmart (WMT) is set to report fourth quarter results on Thursday, February 20 before the opening bell. Jefferies senior vice president of equity research Corey Tarlowe joins Seana Smith and Brad Smith on Morning Brief to discuss his expectations for Walmart's earnings report.

"I know expectations are high, but we think that Walmart delivers very simply, and we think they deliver above expectations," Tarlowe tells Yahoo Finance. "This is a global retailer, but we're specifically looking at the US business in particular," he says, noting that consensus estimates put the same-store sales growth metric at around 4%, with Jefferies expecting closer to 5%.
