Trump's inauguration speech took on 'imperial tone': Hilsenrath

President Donald Trump has officially been sworn back into office for his second term on Monday, January 20. Trump has a slew of policies and executive orders he seeks to enact on his first day back in office following his inauguration ceremony.

Serpa Pinto Advisory founder Jon Hilsenrath sits down in-studio with Julie Hyman and Seana Smith to weigh in on the Trump persona that materialized in his inauguration speech

"It was actually quite confrontational, I think a lot of cultural commentary. One of the two things jumped out at me... was an imperial tone that I haven't heard from him before," Hilsenrath says. "The recitation of Manifest Destiny, which was... a phrase from the mid-1800s that was used to kind of explain and justify America's expansion into Oregon and Texas and other places.

Hilsenrath goes on to say that the election wasn't "for a lot of Americans about these kind of imperial ideas" and that he "didn't hear a lot about tariffs" from Trump.
