The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has launched a cryptocurrency task force under Acting Chair Mark Uyeda to develop a regulatory framework for digital assets.
Ric Edelman, founder of the Digital Assets Council of Financial Professionals (DACFP) and bestselling author of "The Truth About Crypto," joins Catalysts to discuss the industry outlook.
Edelman notes that investors are "excited" about the prospect of clearer crypto regulation, suggesting it could remove the "chains" holding back crypto investors by establishing definitive rules.
"We're happy to obey the rules. Just tell me what the speed limit is. I'll drive within the speed limit, but don't pull me over for speeding without telling me what the speed limit [is]. That was the way it was under Biden and Gensler," he explains to Yahoo Finance.
However, Edelman expresses concern over Donald and Melania Trump's release of crypto meme-coins, noting potential ethical and regulatory conflicts given Trump's influence over crypto policy. While the crypto community remains optimistic about future regulation, Edelman says they are "embarrassed" by this "stunt."
