Tesla's self-driving tech: Why states' rights could be an issue

In This Article:

Ross Gerber, Co-founder and President of Gerber Kawasaki Wealth and Investment Management, joins Catalysts to discuss Tesla’s (TSLA) self driving regulation issues.

Gerber believes the self-driving regulation is a state-by-state battle for Tesla, mentioning federal government “doesn't actually have authority over state roads.”

"...The federal government doesn't actually have authority over state roads, so you have interstate highways, which are part of the federal government, and then you have most states," the Tesla shareholder says. "All states have their own, you know, it's the California Highway Patrol. It's not the Federal Highway Patrol," he adds.

Gerber also notes that federal agencies — which he believes are biased against autonomy — are slowing progress.
