Stocks rise as strong consumer data soothes investor worries: Yahoo Finance

All three of the major indexes (^GSPC, ^DJI, ^IXIC) are trading higher after retail sales rose 1.0% in July, much stronger than the 0.4% Wall Street was expecting. That data was buoyed by strong results from Walmart (WMT), which not only reported a second quarter earnings beat, but raised its full-year guidance. Investors are also reacting to the initial claims data, which was weaker than expected, giving the Street hope that the labor market may be in better shape than had been feared.

Trending Tickers on Yahoo Finance include Ultra Beauty (ULTA), AST SpaceMobile (ASTS), and Pan Alto Networks (PANW).
