The markets (^DJI,^GSPC, ^IXIC) experienced a sell-off this week, triggered by the July jobs report and the unwinding of the yen carry trade. This week, Yahoo Finance sat down with economic experts to discuss the state of the economy and recession concerns.

(00:00:17) Apollo Global Management chief economist Torsten Slok notes "there is just not much evidence of the economy either being in a recession or being on its road to entering a recession."

(00:09:19) Brian Rehling, Wells Fargo head of Global Fixed Income Strategy, explains that he "wouldn't be ready to throw in the towel and say a recession is at the door step or the labor market is completely rolling over. We need to see more data before coming to that conclusion."

(00:14:03) Citi Economist Veronica Clark says that "we've really seen signs that the labor market has been weakening for many months now, it's not just this one report. And that weakening has been accelerating so I think that's the... most concerning thing to us."

(00:18:08) Keith Lerner, Co-Chief Investment Officer and Chief Market Strategist at Truist, discusses recent market movement and the future of the Federal Reserve rate cuts.
