One platform trying to improve equity in the music gig economy

After launching Gritty in Pink in 2020, a Live Nation (LYV)-backed platform designed to empower women in the music industry, iconic musician and CEO Shira Yevin rolled out InPink. The marketplace helps women freelancers connect to jobs and venues—and vice versa—in the competitive music gig economy.

Yevin explained the necessity of her platform to podcast hosts David & John Auten-Schneider on a recent episode of Living Not So Fabulously, in that women make less on "digital platforms like Fiverr and Upwork. And it's because they're underpricing their services," she said. "So [InPink is] developing tools like an AI fair pay scale and other tools to help freelancers and women get paid what they're worth—women and non-binary professionals. And also help these venues and companies and artists staff female talent."
