It's now time for some of today's trending tickers. This morning we are watching Nvidia, Hertz, and strategy. First up, Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang, meeting with Japan's Prime Minister, pushing the country to generate more power to fuel AI. Huang says the country needs to build new infrastructure to meet artificial intelligence demands calling energy essential for all industrial growth. Anne Berry, still here with us to provide a little bit more context. Anne, how are you thinking about Nvidia right now?
Well, I think Japan's, uh, generation of power is the least of Nvidia's issues, to be perfectly honest with you. And side bar, you know, Jensen Huang actually did shed his leather jacket for this for this meeting. So, different vibe. Look, I think Nvidia is has got the elephant in the room is, you know, curbs on the number of chips it can send to China, uh, issues on how it's going to stand behind its investment strategy in the United States, given all the uncertainty we have right now. So, look, Nvidia has been punished. I've got Nvidia stock and a lot of people do. Um, you know, it's great that Jensen Huang is out there sort of keeping on, keeping on, but I think he's got some real domestic issues to focus on.
Yeah, I heard an investor last week say you're investing in management teams, not companies right now. So if you believe in Jensen Huang, maybe you think there is that recovery there. Another name we're going to talk about, Hertz. Bill Ackman's Pershing Square Capital Management taking a nearly 20% stake in the car rental company, betting on its turnaround plan. Ackman believing the company can capitalize on a potential rise in used car prices due to President Trump's tariffs on auto imports, calling Hertz quote, uniquely well-positioned in the current tariff environment. You see stock selling off just a touch this morning, but that comes after I believe an over 50% gain in the stock, two days of back-to-back double-digit gains. Anne, what's your take?
You know, I have a slightly controversial take on this. I've said this on Yahoo before. I actually like following activist money. Um, and when you get savvy investors like Bill Ackman, who see the potential for an operating turnaround that their management team, whether new or replaced, you know, or incumbent can go execute against, I find that quite interesting. So, you know, I'm following this one. I do think that there is something sort of lurking in there. I'm not sure it's all about a tariff resistant play. I think there are other levers that this company is going to have is going to have to pull to turn this around, but I think there's an interesting thesis underlying it.
All right. Really important indicator there. I like that. That's good. Finally, strategy getting a new buy rating at CTBC securities due to its aggressive Bitcoin acquisition strategy, and the potential that has for more growth to come. The company did buy more than $555 million worth of Bitcoin over the course of the last week, bringing its total Bitcoin holdings to more than $36.4 billion. Shares of strategy up nearly 4% this morning. Yeah, incredible. What are you thinking about strategy at the moment, Anne? And Bitcoin in general, I guess.
Okay. So Bitcoin, I am a very late adopter, and I've been I've been very sort of I own this, right. I would not I did not touch Bitcoin for a whole host of reasons until January of this year when I thought if there's an administration that's going to try and support more mainstream Bitcoin adoption, it's going to be this one. So I bought a very small amount of Bitcoin. This whole thesis that you've got companies taking Bitcoin and using it as a reserve currency, right? So go buy strategy shares instead of going buying Bitcoin itself. I'm not quite there yet. Still I'm still a couple of steps behind. You know, I'd like to see businesses that have got sort of more fundamental operations behind them simply basically trading a new commodity.
Right. You you say behind, I say strategic. You're thinking you're thinking it through in a very smart way. Our investor audience could take a note from your book. And also, to mention, you can scan the QR code on your screen to track those trending tickers.
