The challenge of building a diversified portfolio is never far from the minds of investors and portfolio managers alike. In a recent episode of Opening Bid, Yahoo Finance Executive Editor Brian Sozzi spoke with Russell Investments President and CIO Kate El-Hillow about the challenges of building a diversified portfolio. El-Hillow highlighted the complexities of managing risk in an era of unpredictable policy shifts and global uncertainties.
El-Hillow emphasized "having good companies at good prices and cross sectors, and then stressing the portfolio for different types of policy shifts to make sure you're not overexposed is gonna be important."
She also called out the temptation to lean too heavily into hot sectors. "That's what I think is the biggest challenge right now is not to get so wrapped up in a couple of these themes, like you lean too much into AI or leaning too much into the mag seven."
