Torch Capital founder and managing partner Jon Keidan joins Asking for a Trend to break down the market outlook for initial public offerings (IPOs) in 2025.
Keidan notes that companies are looking "to go public when the time is right." He highlights that the Trump administration has shifted the landscape to be "more optimistic" due partly to President Trump's "business-friendly" position.
Keidan also explains that if the Trump administration eases regulatory restrictions, it will first stimulate the mergers and acquisitions (M&A) market, which will subsequently boost the IPO market. "If the IPO market heats up, then those companies will be more flushed with cash and wanting to secure their advantages and doing more M&A," he says, which will create an ongoing cycle of positive economic activity.
However, while Keidan is "enthusiastic" about the potential uptick in IPO activity, he cautions that it won't be "fireworks."
