ANDREW VAN GORGEN: This is the future of the toilet. The black-on-black version will run a retail around 10,500.
AKIKO FUJITA: Yahoo Finance's own the ground here in Las Vegas at CES 2024, where we've been walking around trying to find sort of new and unique products. I think we found a good one here, smart toilets from Kohler. Let's see. And there it goes, opened up. To walk us through all this, we've got Andrew Van Gorden. He is the product manager for smart toilets at Kohler.
ANDREW VAN GORGEN: Yes. Welcome.
AKIKO FUJITA: What do we have here?
ANDREW VAN GORGEN: This is the future of the toilet, right? So this is our new Me 2.0 smart toilet. As you saw, it automatically opens as you walk up to it, completely touchless experience. As you walk away, it's going to close and flush behind it. What's great about the new Me is the sensor here on the side. Why don't you go ahead and put your foot right next to that sensor?
AKIKO FUJITA: All right. I'm going to come on this side. This is the age-old debate, by the way, whether you have the seat up or down.
ANDREW VAN GORGEN: Up or down, right? So let's see.
AKIKO FUJITA: I put my foot up here.
ANDREW VAN GORGEN: That's right.
AKIKO FUJITA: And there it goes.
ANDREW VAN GORGEN: A little sensor to automatically open the seat ring as well.
AKIKO FUJITA: And how do I close it?
ANDREW VAN GORGEN: Try it again. That same sensor, blue light, there you go. It will also close it and flush behind it as well. So all of our smart toilets are built in with that automation, touchless control. You're able to control a couple key things, the lighting that you see wrapped around the side.
AKIKO FUJITA: So right now you've got blue lighting. Can we change that?
ANDREW VAN GORGEN: You can. We'll go ahead and change it again to a yellow, sunrise type of theme.
AKIKO FUJITA: Heated seats.
