Foreign policies that Harris, Trump should prioritize in 2024 Election

With the presidential election less than seven weeks away, Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump should be focusing in more on foreign policy.

On the latest episode of Capitol Gains, retired four-star Army Gen. Wesley Clark joins Yahoo Finance’s Rachelle Akuffo, Washington Correspondent Ben Werschkul, and senior columnist Rick Newman to discuss the presidential candidates and the top priorities in foreign policy that have the biggest potential impact on their campaigns as well as the US economy.

Gen. Clark, the Former Supreme Allied Commander for Europe and NATO, says the two biggest priorities in foreign policy are Iran and Ukraine. He explains, “I think it could really change the election if Iran were to test a nuclear weapon before the election… There would be an immediate price spike in the price of oil if that happens and a lot of recalculations of investment decisions.”

Regarding Ukraine, he says the country is relatively solid right now, but still believes the U.S. needs to stand by them. “I’m relatively optimistic in the near term on Ukraine but honestly we’ve got to do more to help them. They need a strong policy that says they’re going to be given what they need to take their terrain back.”
