How DHL is handling this year's holiday delivery demand

In This Article:

DHL (DHL.DE) Express US CEO Greg Hewitt joins Catalysts to discuss the shipping and logistics company's prep for the upcoming holiday demand.

Hewitt emphasizes that the "peak season is upon us," driven by Cyber Week sales, with average daily volume surging 60%. This significant increase has heightened the need for staffing across multiple areas in DHL's supply chain, including customer service agents, aviation capacity, couriers, and station staff to manage the influx of packages and merchandise. "It's all about planning and getting started early," he tells Yahoo Finance.

However, Hewitt is confident in DHL's capabilities, stating, "We'll make sure every package is delivered before Christmas and then also before the busy Chinese New Year" which will fall on January 29, 2025.

Addressing the potential impact of proposed tariffs by President-elect Donald Trump, Hewitt outlines two key focus areas for the company: ensuring appropriate staffing and working closely with Customs and Border Protection (CBP) to maintain strict compliance.
