US Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen announced new investments to support affordable housing financing over the next three years. This announcement comes just before the first presidential debate between President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump. Some US polls have Biden catching up to Trump, as Biden continues his campaign efforts across the country.
Veda Partners managing partner and director of economic policy Henrietta Treyz joins Asking for a Trend to give insight into the announcement on housing from Treasury Secretary Yellen and how it impacts Biden's polling numbers.
"I'm a little surprised that they're doing it today because it's abortion week. They need to get better at messaging. As you guys were just discussing, the difference between Biden and Trump, I think, is that the entire Republican machine is able to get on a single agenda item and talk about that for an extended period of time and coordinated fashion. Democrats are sort of all over the place," Treyz tells Yahoo Finance.
