Shares of Dell Technologies (DELL) and Palantir Technologies (PLTR) are rallying as they prepare to join the S&P 500 (^GSPC) index. Alongside insurance provider Erie Indemnity (ERIE), the two tech firms will be added to the benchmark index before the market opens on Monday, September 23.

They will be replacing American Airlines (AAL), Etsy (ETSY), and Bio-Rad Laboratories (BIO).
