'Being anti-DEI is also anti-business,' Revolt CEO explains

February marks Black History Month, which was first federally recognized in 1976. Wealth Host Brad Smith sits down with REVOLT CEO Detavio Samuels to discuss what's next for the Black-owned media outlet, ongoing efforts to dismantle Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) initiatives under the Trump administration, and his advice for aspiring entrepreneurs.

"For us, 2025 is all going to be about... ushering in the next chapter of Revolt. This will be the first year where we're operating as a fully 100% employee-owned company. Our employee group is the largest shareholder base that we have," Samuels says, adding that the company is "about expanding territory" in 2025, exploring new coverage categories like sports and gaming as well as platforming new creators.

When discussing the changing landscape for corporate leaders as President Trump aims to dismantle DEI efforts, the CEO says the "same way that I think that DEI is as American as apple pie, I think that being anti-DEI is also anti-business."

"You start to look at America, and you say, 'Where's all the growth coming from since the 2010 census?' What we've known is that the non-Hispanic white population is shrinking, and all of the growth is coming from people of color," Samuels outlines.

"Any smart businessman, any great advertiser or brand will want to know that if you're going to grow, you have to bet on the audiences that are growing, and it's not just in the US, it's globally."
