American Airlines (AAL) regional jet collided with a military helicopter near Washington D.C.'s Reagan National Airport, sending both aircraft into the Potomac River. Recovery efforts are ongoing, and officials say they expect no survivors.

The cause of the collision is currently unknown, but American Airlines CEO Robert Isom says the company is working with authorities on the investigation. Newly confirmed Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth and Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy, as well as US President Donald Trump, have commented on the crash amid the ongoing investigation.
