shares of Alphabet in after-hours trading. The Wall Street Journal reporting the company is closing in on a deal to acquire cybersecurity company Wiz for about $30 billion. That is higher than a previously reported bid over the summer for about $23 billion. Those talks at that time fell apart, partly over regulatory concerns and whether a deal would be cleared. Any deal now would have to be approved, but it would be one of the largest so far this year. And after a lot of hopes that this administration would be more, um, amenable to these types of deals, it is still an open question if they would. So this will be a closely watched situation.
