How AI can improve government efficiency

As artificial intelligence continues to expand and improve, one of the many questions it has left in its wake is what role the technology might play in government and defense.

On a new episode of Warrior Money, EdgeRunner AI CEO Tyler Saltsman discusses how his company is utilizing generative AI for defense technology, and how AI tools can help governmental departments downsize their ranks and keep everyone on the same page.

“With AI now, when you train on all this doctrine, you have that single version of the truth,” Saltsman says, suggesting AI can be used as a tool that can advise on matters of policy and budget.

“You can ask it recommendations,” Saltsman says. “Would this policy make sense? Would it make sense to cut the budget here? If I did, what are the ramifications? What are the risks?”

“Now you can ask AI these questions that you would ask a human,” he adds, “but AI has an objective lens because it’s trained on decades of legacy data.”

Increasing attention is being paid to AI companies as President-elect Donald Trump’s administration readies a new Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) to be led by Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy. In Saltsman’s view, AI can play a significant role in streamlining government.

“As you want to get more efficient and cut back on spending and cut back on bloat, you need AI to augment humans.” Saltsman says. “It will never replace humans. It will just make us better.”

Saltsman details the work EdgeRunner AI is doing in the defense tech space on a new episode of Warrior Money. Hosted by former Congressman Patrick Murphy and veteran investor Dan Kunze, Yahoo Finance’s Warrior Money is a weekly vodcast dedicated to uplifting military veterans transitioning into civilian life.
