Franklin Templeton Head of US Wealth Management Alternatives, Dave Donahoo, joins Wealth host Brad Smith to discuss the growing prominence of alternative investments and strategies for incorporating them into investment portfolios.
Donahoo identifies three key drivers behind the surge in alternative investments, describing it as "a sun, moon, and stars alignment scenario." These factors include expanding opportunities in private markets, emerging technological innovations, and what he calls a "product manufacturing revolution."
"People are realizing if you're not investing in alternatives, which may no longer be an alternative, you're missing out on the growth of the economy and the full opportunity set," Donahoo explains. He highlights particular interest in real estate and private equity investments, with secondary private equity markets attracting significant attention.
Donahoo adds that "on the debt side of real estate, that's where we see probably the longest runway for growth over the next decade."
