  • Analyst Report: Choice Hotels Intl In

    Choice Hotels International franchises hotels worldwide. As of December 31, 2023, Choice had over 7,400 hotels with nearly 630,000 rooms. The company operates in 46 countries and territories, and has hotels in all 50 states and the District of Columbia. In August 2022, Choice acquired Radisson Hotels Americas, adding nine brands and approximately 67,000 rooms to its portfolio.

  • Market Update: CHH, HST, DOW

    U.S. markets remained near the flat line. The one outlier is the Russell 2000, which leads the pack with a gain of over 1%. Traders seem to be on hold until the release of CPI data tomorrow morning. In related, news, producer prices by way of the PPI report this morning were a bit hotter than expected in certain areas, but overall the report was viewed by most as benign. PPI rose 0.5% in April, above expectations for a 0.3% gain. The March reading was revised down to a 0.1% drop. Meanwhile, Fed Chairman Jerome Powell spoke publically and suggested that recent progress on inflation was not as robust as hoped -- but he also maintained that prices should move down on a monthly basis. Crude oil is trading near $78 per barrel, while gold is up $11 to trade above $2354 per ounce.

    Hyatt is an operator of owned (4% of total rooms) and managed and franchise (96%) properties across around 20 upscale luxury brands, which includes vacation brands (Apple Leisure Group, Hyatt Ziva, and Hyatt Zilara), the recently launched full-service lifestyle brand Hyatt Centric, the soft lifestyle brand Unbound, the wellness brand Miraval, and the midscale extended-stay brand Studios. Hyatt acquired Two Roads in November 2018 and Apple Leisure Group in 2021. The regional exposure as a percentage of total rooms is 54% Americas, 22% rest of world, and 23% Asia-Pacific.

  • Analyst Report: Choice Hotels International, Inc.

    As of Dec. 31, 2023, Choice Hotels operated 633,000 rooms across 15 brands addressing the economy and midscale segments. Comfort Inn and Comfort Suites are the largest brands (27% of the company's total domestic rooms), while Ascend and Cambria (7% of total domestic rooms) are newer lifestyle and select-service brands. Choice closed on its Radisson acquisition in August 2022, which added around 70,000 rooms. Franchises account for 100% of total revenue, and the United States represent 79% of total rooms in 2023.
