Warren Buffett Plans to Step Down as Berkshire CEO at Year-End
Omaha, Neb.— Warren Buffett said the time has come: He is ready to step down as Berkshire Hathaway’s chief executive at year-end. The 94-year-old investor closed the annual meeting of the company he built into one of the nation’s largest with the surprise announcement that he will recommend Vice Chairman Greg Abel, his designated successor, to begin the CEO job in 2026. “The time has arrived where Greg should become the chief executive officer of the company at year-end,” he said.
