The fund normally invests at least 80% of its net assets in mid-sized companies. The fund's managers consider a mid-sized company to be one that has a market capitalization between that of the smallest and largest constituents of the Russell Midcap® Index measured at the time of purchase. The Russell Midcap® Index includes approximately 800 of the smallest companies in the Russell 1000® Index. The fund may normally invest up to 20% of its net assets in smaller- and larger-capitalization companies.

Ian Sexsmith is the lead portfolio manager of the Parnassus Mid Cap Growth strategy, a portfolio manager of the Mid Cap strategy and a senior analyst. He is responsible for portfolio management of the firm’s Mid Cap Growth and Mid Cap strategies. Ian joined Parnassus Investments in 2011 after serving as a Parnassus research intern. Prior to joining Parnassus, he worked at Scotiabank and TD Bank Financial Group in Toronto. Ian received his bachelor’s of commerce degree from the University of Manitoba, Canada, and his MBA from the University of California, Berkeley. He is a CFA charterholder and member of the CFA Society of San Francisco.
