India's Marico estimates higher quarterly revenue growth on cooking oil demand

Cooking oil has largely withstood a broader slowdown among branded consumer goods due to its essential nature, according to analysts, even as brands raised prices in recent months to make up for higher ingredient costs. Analysts are expecting a 11.2% rise in consolidated revenue in the quarter, as per LSEG data. The Parachute coconut oil brand has been "resilient" in terms of revenue, while Saffola has "held firm in volume terms", the company said.

Indian consumer goods maker Marico expects urban consumption will take at least six months to revive, its managing director told Reuters, signaling more pain for the sector from food inflation which has hit a 15-month high. With a market cap of $9.12 billion, Marico is best known for its iconic coconut oil brand "Parachute" and edible oil brand "Saffola", and competes with the likes of Hindustan Unilever and Nestle. India's annual inflation for food items, which account for nearly half of the consumption basket, hit a 15-month high of 10.87% in October, and retail inflation surged to a 14-month high in the same month, driven by a jump in vegetable prices and dashing hopes of an interest rate cut by the central bank next month.

India's Marico beats Q2 profit estimates on price hikes

The company reported a near-20% rise in consolidated net profit to 4.23 billion rupees ($50.3 million) for the three months ended Sept. 30. To offset a 25% year-on-year increase in prices of copra, the main raw material used to produce coconut oil, Marico raised prices of the product in India. India's Marico forecasts high single-digit revenue growth in Q2

The consumer goods maker expects its consolidated revenue to grow in double digits during the second half of fiscal year 2025. Marico said its core Parachute coconut oil business recorded near mid-single digit percentage volume growth in the second quarter, owing to price hikes it had implemented in the beginning of 2024. The company said it further hiked prices of its Parachute oil products at the end of the quarter due to the sequential rise in prices of copra, a key raw material, which rose ahead of Marico's internal forecasts in the second quarter.

India's Marico expects revenue uptick in core categories for FY25; focus on foods segment

CHENNAI/BENGALURU (Reuters) -India's Marico, which owns the Saffola and Parachute brands of packaged oils, expects revenue growth to outpace its volume growth in fiscal 2025, it said on Monday, adding that it would aggressively scale up food and personal care portfolios. It aims to scale up the foods and premium personal care portfolios to improve profitability parameters, and expects its share of domestic revenue from these segments to expand to about 25% by FY27 from about 20% currently. "We aim to grow Foods at 20% compound annual growth rate," it said.
