Hindustan Zinc CFO flags price volatility on tariff risks, sees strong FY26 growth

(Reuters) -Hindustan Zinc expects strong growth in fiscal 2026 despite global price volatility caused by U.S. tariff uncertainty, a top executive told Reuters on Friday, after the miner reported a jump in quarterly profit. Zinc prices, which averaged at about $2,900 a ton in financial year 2025, have oscillated between $2,500 and $2,700 so far in April, CFO Sandeep Modi said. Modi said prices are expected to average at $2,800-$2,900 a ton in fiscal 2026, which started on April 1.

India's Hindustan Zinc sees strong 2025 growth on higher volumes, CEO says

Hindustan Zinc, India's biggest producer of the refined metal, will report strong revenue and profit growth in the fourth quarter and the upcoming fiscal year, supported by higher production and rising metal prices, CEO Arun Misra said. Domestic zinc prices rose during the third quarter, in tandem with global prices as China, the world's biggest producer of the refined metal, continued to face a supply crunch. Misra expects zinc prices to rise to $2,850-$2,950 a ton in the coming days from $2,800 currently, and silver to trade between $30 and $31 per ounce.

Indian government to sell 2.5% stake in Hindustan Zinc for $634 million

The Indian government, which currently holds a 29.54% stake in the company, is looking to sell 105.6 million shares at a floor price of 505 rupees apiece under the offer for sale. The floor price is at a nearly 10% discount to Tuesday's closing price of 559.65 rupees. The government had rejected a similar proposal by Hindustan Zinc in March, saying it was not convinced that such a move would boost shareholder value.

(Reuters) -India's Hindustan Zinc is discussing the possibility of splitting the company into two units with the Indian government, which is opposed to the proposal, CEO Arun Misra said on Friday. Misra's comments follow the Indian government's rejection of a similar proposal in March, as the miner's largest minority shareholder was not convinced that such a move would boost shareholder value. The government has also started road shows to sell its stake in the miner, Misra said.

BENGALURU (Reuters) -India's Hindustan Zinc on Tuesday nearly doubled its dividend to 19 rupees per share, totaling 80.28 billion rupees($958 million), a move that is expected to help group parent Vedanta Resources reduce its debt. Hindustan Zinc is majority owned by metals-to-oil conglomerate Vedanta Ltd, which in turn is owned by U.K.-based Vedanta Resources. The Indian government owns most of the remaining stake in Hindustan Zinc.

Indian miner Vedanta boosts stake sale in Hindustan Zinc to top $950 million

BENGALURU (Reuters) -Indian miner Vedanta Ltd will sell a 3.3% stake worth more than $950 million in unit Hindustan Zinc, it said on Wednesday, bigger than the 2.6% stake it initially planned to hive off. Vedanta said it will sell 140 million Hindustan Zinc shares. That values the sale at 80.05 billion rupees (about $954 million), based on Hindustan Zinc's stock closing price of 571.75 rupees on Wednesday.
