Airbus CEO says Europe's two fighter jet programmes could combine

Airbus CEO Guillaume Faury said he could see the two separate European programmes working on new fighter jets and combat air systems being combined in future or at least designed to work together. Britain, Italy and Japan said in December they were setting up a joint company to develop, design and build an advanced stealth jet, named GCAP, while France, Germany and Spain are working on the rival FCAS project. "Each and every country could contribute its financial and technological capacity to a bigger programme for Europe, because that's what we need at the end."

Airbus CEO is 'confident' about 75 aircraft a month target

The chief executive of Airbus on Wednesday said he was "still confident" the company could reach its target of manufacturing 75 single-aisle aircraft a month in 2027. Guillaume Faury said the target had been set at a "prudent level", and the European group would continue production at a similar pace for some years after achieving the target.

Boeing delivered less than half the number of commercial aircraft to customers than its European rival in 2024 as the American aerospace giant's output suffered under intensified government scrutiny and a factory workers' strike, according to data released Tuesday. Boeing said it supplied 348 jetliners during the year. More than three-quarters of the planes that Boeing furnished were 737 Max jets, a stark reminder of how integral its best-selling airline model has been to the company's fortunes and challenges.

Airbus delivered 766 jets in 2024 and looked certain to maintain leadership of the jetmaking industry for a sixth year as arch-rival Boeing recovers cautiously from a prolonged internal crisis, company data showed on Thursday. The European planemaker fell fractionally short of its target of "around 770" jets but said it had met the goal after giving itself a margin for error as global supply chains remain hampered by parts and labour shortages. Jefferies analyst Chloe Lemarie said the missing four aircraft were small A220 models, leaving deliveries of the widely used larger models in line with expectations.

PARIS (Reuters) -European aerospace companies are bracing for "very strong" protectionism in the United States under the administration of President-elect Donald Trump, the head of planemaker Airbus said on Thursday. Speaking to reporters as head of France's GIFAS aerospace industry association, Airbus CEO Guillaume Faury also said supply chains had yet to recover from the impact of the pandemic. Airbus is expected to announce later on Thursday that it made 766 deliveries in 2024, up 4% from the previous year, coupled with a slowdown in orders from record highs in 2023.

Airbus is counting the cost of last-minute financial concessions to airlines to overcome a spate of minor quality problems after scrambling to deliver a provisional 123 jets in December, industry sources said. The end-year rush brings preliminary 2024 deliveries to 766 jets, up 4% from 2023, but this is subject to internal audits, meaning it could still be trimmed by one or two jets before final data is released on Thursday, the sources said. Even so, the world's largest planemaker is expected to declare victory after putting a floor of 750 on its guidance of "around 770" deliveries in a briefing to analysts in October.

PARIS (Reuters) -Airbus missed its headline delivery target by a whisker in 2024, provisionally releasing more than 765 jets to airlines and lessors, industry sources said, citing preliminary data. Airbus notionally delivered more than 122 planes in December, bringing the total for the year to just over 765, they said. Airbus declined to discuss any details ahead of an annual commercial update planned for Jan 9.
