The investment seeks to maximize total return, consistent with income generation and prudent investment management. The fund normally invests at least 80% of its assets in bonds and maintains an average portfolio duration that is within ±20% of the duration of the benchmark. The management team selects bonds from several sectors including: U.S. treasuries and agency securities, commercial and residential mortgage-backed securities, CMOs, asset-backed securities and corporate bonds. The fund may invest up to 25% of its assets in assets of foreign issuers, of which 10% (as a percentage of the fund's assets) may be invested in emerging markets issuers.
