Guidance will be the focus of big bank earnings, this analyst says
Big banks report earnings this week, with Citi (C), JPMorgan Chase (JPM), Goldman Sachs (GS), and Wells Fargo (WFC) releasing results on Wednesday. HSBC head of US financials research Saul Martinez joins Market Domination with Julie Hyman and Josh Lipton to discuss what he expects to be the focus of Big Bank earnings: 2025 guidance. "There's a lot of optimism about this being really the first time since the global financial crisis that we're going to have, you know, positive real rates across the curve for a sustained time period," Martinez says. "The optimism that plus call it a more favorable relative regulatory backdrop has led to a view that profitability will be benefited for these banks. And you have good earnings momentum and good profit growth." "It's really about what the outlook and what the narrative will be going forward," the analyst explains. "What we're looking for really is whether this positive narrative is going to be reinforced in outlooks." Watch the video above to learn about Martinez's expectations for Big Bank earnings.
