Remy Cointreau withdrew its targets for fiscal 2030 as it warned that tariff and macroeconomic uncertainty cloud its outlook. The maker of Remy Martin cognac and Cointreau orange liqueur said Wednesday that it seeks to return to mid-single-digit sales growth on an organic basis in fiscal 2026, after two years of double-digit declines, but that further increases in custom duties in the U.S. and China would threaten this. Over the longer-term, the conditions required to maintain Remy Cointreau’s fiscal 2030 targets are no longer in place, it said.

PARIS/LONDON (Reuters) -Remy Cointreau on Wednesday abandoned its 2030 sales growth ambitions, saying tariffs and persistently slow U.S. sales could derail its plans for this financial year and beyond. However, shares in the maker of Remy Martin cognac and Cointreau liqueur, which has been grappling with tariffs and sliding sales in its key U.S. and Chinese markets, rose almost 6% after executives said the worst had passed in terms of sales and profit declines. "We believe this difficult phase is now behind us," outgoing CEO Eric Vallat told investors during his final results presentation, while adding that Remy's 2030 goal for high-single-digit percentage growth in sales appeared no longer achievable.

PARIS/LONDON (Reuters) -French spirits group Remy Cointreau on Wednesday flagged a "steep recovery" in the critical U.S. market that has dragged on performance for over a year, sending its shares up more than 5% even as its fourth-quarter sales missed forecasts. The maker of Remy Martin cognac and Cointreau liqueur has been grappling with problems in both the U.S. and China, which account for most of its cognac sales, sending its shares downwards in recent years. Remy also faces steep tariffs in China as part of a Beijing-Brussels trade dispute, which has also seen duty-free sales of cognac in China halted.
