Zurich Insurance Group's Singaporean unit has teamed up with transport operator ComfortDelGro Corporation to launch a new travel insurance product, Zurich Travel Comfort.

The new offering can be accessed via ComfortDelGro's ride-hailing app, CDG Zig.

It aligns with Zurich's digital strategy, Zurich Edge.

CDG Zig, which has more than one million monthly active users and a total unique user base exceeding two million, will now allow users to buy Zurich's single-trip travel insurance for individuals and families.

It is designed to cater to the demand for rides to and from Changi Airport, providing an end-to-end digital experience for travel insurance purchases.

The policy provides pre-trip coverage for customers, who book their rides via the CDG Zig app.

For vehicle breakdowns en-route to Changi Airport, causing travel disruptions, it offers reimbursement of up to S$1,000 ($732.19).

To celebrate the launch, customers will receive a S$5 CDG Zig promo code with any policy purchase of S$15.

It includes complementary airport lounge access worldwide for customers experiencing flight delays of more than two hours, without the need for claims filing or application processing.

Additionally, it covers risks associated with non-competitive leisure activities.

The digital experience of purchasing Zurich's travel insurance via the CDG Zig app is fully powered by the Zurich Edge Platform.

This platform facilitates simplified member authentication and digitally processed payments.

Zurich Singapore chief underwriting officer Alexandra Cowley said: “By integrating Zurich Travel Comfort into the CDG Zig app, we are combining ComfortDelGro’s trusted transport network with Zurich’s deep insurance expertise to offer travellers convenience, protection and peace of mind – all at their fingertips.”

ComfortDelGro CEO Kenny Lok added: “This collaboration between Zurich and ComfortDelGro is a prime example of how technology is transforming traditional insurance models. By embedding travel protection directly into a mobility platform, we are breaking down barriers and making insurance not just a purchase but an intuitive part of the customer's journey.”

Last month, Zurich Insurance concluded the purchase of AIG's global personal travel insurance and assistance business, which includes Travel Guard.

"Zurich, ComfortDelGro team up on travel insurance " was originally created and published by Life Insurance International, a GlobalData owned brand.
