Xpeng, BP Pulse collaborate in EV charging in China

In This Article:

Chinese battery electric vehicle (BEV) manufacturer Xpeng Motors this week signed an agreement with bp pulse, the EV charging unit of UK energy company BP Plc, to provide mutual access to their fast-charging networks in China. The deal will create one of China’s largest premium EV charging networks, combining more than 30,000 chargers across 420 cities in China.

In China, bp pulse has around 1,000 charging stations with a total of 23,000 charging piles, while Xpeng has more than 2,000 charging stations and 10,000 charging piles.

The two companies plan to share their operations and collaborate in expanding their ultra-fast networks in key commercial hubs in China, while also improving their customer experience. They will also explore opportunities to introduce new technologies and services at their stations, including solar power and energy storage facilities.

Xpeng is also pressing ahead with plans to expand its overseas charging networks this year and will roll out its overseas vehicle services platform - which helps customers locate charging stations, make reservations and handle payments.
