XMC Opens US Office to Support Global Growth of Unique Partnership-Based Foundry Offering

WUHAN, CHINA--(Marketwired - Nov 12, 2013) - XMC, a fast growing specialty foundry, today announced it has opened an office in California's Silicon Valley to support the growing interest and demand for its semiconductor manufacturing offerings. The office will be the base for front-line sales and business development efforts in North America. It will be headed by industry veteran Keng Wong, who has been named Associate Vice President of US Sales.

"As a global company we want to ensure we have direct access to all markets and be well-positioned to support our partners regardless of where they are. The US market is a key center of the semiconductor ecosystem, and an obvious place for us to be due to the prevalence of so many fabless and fab-lite companies which can benefit from our unique partnership model," said Walt Lange, Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing for XMC. "By opening a direct operation here under the direction of an experienced sales and business development person like Keng, we can continue to grow our business and discover more ways that we can assist companies in dynamic market segments."

Wong brings more than 30 years experience in the semiconductor industry to XMC. He most recently held sales and business development positions at STATS ChipPAC and Amkor. Wong is fluent in Chinese, English and Japanese and holds a master's degree from the University of Strathclyde in the UK.

The focus of the US operations will be to find and support partners that can leverage XMC's customized manufacturing capabilities. XMC is currently in production technology nodes down to 45nm. Its leading-edge fabrication facilities in Wuhan China can be configured to produce up to 60,000 300MM wafers per month. XMC recently announced a technology development and manufacturing agreement to expand its technology offerings to 32nm. XMC has also established a comprehensive IP foundation with recently announced licensing agreements with Spansion and IBM. These agreements underscore XMC's commitment to providing its worldwide partners with state of the art technologies as well as secure and reliable IP solutions.
