Xfinity internet customers who subscribe to one of four services started receiving faster internet speeds in recent days, according to Comcast spokesman Marc Goodman. Customers with Connect, Connect More, Fast and Prepaid services have had those speeds increased without an increase in costs, he said.
Internet speed for Connect customers has risen from 75 to 150 (Megabytes per second). A speed of 150 Mbps allows for music album downloads in about 5 seconds and HD-quality films in four minutes. Upload speeds are slower.
Speed for Connect More customers has risen from 200 Mbps to 300 Mbps. Fast customers will be able to take advantage of speeds of 500 Mbps, up from 400. And Xfinity Prepaid customers will have speeds increased from 50 Mbps to 500 Mbps.
The services range from $25/month to $45/month with certain conditions.
Xfinity is providing a service that customers can rely on today and in the future, Goodman said.
