French fintech Worldline has teamed up with paytech firm Castles Technology to deliver in-person payment solutions to North American merchants.

Worldline offers payment solutions to independent software vendors (ISVs), independent sales organisations (ISOs), and banks across various industry verticals.

The partnership’s goal is to offer a SoftPOS solution by leveraging the combined strengths of both companies.

SoftPOS, which stands for software-based Point of Sale, enables merchants to process payments on Android mobile devices without the need for traditional POS hardware.

This technology claims to decrease costs associated with POS systems and to streamline the payment process, the release explained.

This move aims to enhance payment methods and improve the efficiency of how merchants handle transactions.

The SoftPOS solution is expected to launch by the end of 2025.

Castles Technology North America CEO Joe Mach said: “At Castles Technology, we are committed to pushing the boundaries of payment innovation, and our partnership with Worldline represents a major leap forward in redefining how businesses accept payments. By combining our state-of-the-art Android payment solutions with Worldline’s deep industry expertise, we are enabling merchants to seamlessly adopt secure, software-based payment acceptance. Together, we are not just meeting market demands—we are shaping the future of payments, providing businesses with the flexibility and security they need to thrive in an increasingly digital world.”

Worldline North America operations and partnerships head Claire Gayton said: “Partnering with Castles was an evident decision for our team here at Worldline North America. With aligned commitments to delivering innovative payment solutions, Castles’ extensive portfolio of terminal offerings, and joint goals for SoftPOS market introduction, we are thrilled to keep building on our foundation as partners.”

Last month, Worldline renewed its agreement with OP Financial Group for a duration of 12 years, with a focus on transitioning to Worldline's back-office platform.

"Worldline, Castles Technology collaborate to deliver SoftPOS solution " was originally created and published by Electronic Payments International, a GlobalData owned brand.
