PLOVER – Wendy’s is getting closer to an opening date in Crossroads Commons.
A spokesperson for the company told the Stevens Point Journal Thursday morning Wendy’s is still working to finalize an opening date for the Plover location, although the company is looking at the first week of November.
The spokesperson said an official opening date should be set in the next couple of weeks.
Local leaders in Plover approved plans in January for the 2,000-square-foot drive-thru to be constructed next to the Jiffy Lube building in Crossroads Commons.
This project marks the return of the Wendy's brand in central Wisconsin. Wendy’s opened on U.S. 10 in Stevens Point in 1993, but that location closed and was remodeled to become a Qdoba in 2017. A Weston Wendy’s closed last September and is set to become a Fuzzy’s Taco Shop in October, and the restaurant closed in Marshfield in 2012 and in Wisconsin Rapids in 2007.
