Webtech Wireless Introduces New HOS Rule Compliance for US Carriers

VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(Marketwired - Jun 27, 2013) - Webtech Wireless Inc. (WEW.TO), a leading provider of vehicle fleet location-based services (LBS) and telematics technology, today announced the release of updates to its Quadrant software and hardware in compliance with new Hours of Service (HOS) rules for transport carriers operating in the United States continuing to provide strict rule adherence tools and functions to its customers.

This updated version of Quadrant Manager delivers new features and enhancements and our updated in-cab MDTs ensures compliance with important changes in "The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) Hours of Service of Drivers Final Rule" to be implemented July 1, 2013.

"We're building on Quadrant's deep functionality by continuing to ensure we meet new HOS rule changes. Along with other recent HOS enhancements, such as US-Canada HOS cross-border support enhancements implemented recently, we've ensured that Quadrant Manager and our MDT devices are all up to date," says Ernie Chatham, Vice President, Quadrant Products and Services.

Summary of HOS Rule Changes:

PROVISION: Limitations on Minimum "34-hour Restarts"

  1. Must include two periods between 1 AM and 5 AM home terminal time.

  2. When multiple resets occur within a week, a remark must be placed on the one period that the driver uses for reset. May only be used once per week.

PROVISION: Rest Breaks

  1. May drive only if 8 hours or less have passed since end of driver's last off-duty period of at least 30 minutes. [HM 397.5 mandatory "in attendance" time may be included in break if no other duties performed]
