Voodoo Doughnut location in Boulder to open next week

Jul. 26—Doughnut fans who've been anxiously awaiting Voodoo Doughnut's new Boulder location will finally be able to satisfy their sweet tooth at the store's grand opening on Tuesday.

Tuesday's festivities will kick off at 8 a.m. with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at the store, 3210 Arapahoe Ave. For a limited time, Voodoo Doughnut Boulder will also feature a special Golden Buffalo doughnut created for the store's opening.

The Portland chain's iconic handcrafted donuts, which put a creative spin on traditional recipes, will be on display in "jewel-like spinning cases," according to a news release. The new store will also feature a chandelier, hand-painted murals by local artists, a black velvet painting and a drive thru.

"We are stoked to finally open our doors," Chris Schultz, CEO of Voodoo Doughnut, stated in the release. "Our team has worked tirelessly to bring that Voodoo magic to the Boulder community, and we look forward to welcoming everyone on Aug. 1."

Word began to spread about the new location last October, when BizWest reported that a space on Arapahoe Avenue that formerly housed a Taco Bell and KFC had been painted pink, the signature color of many Voodoo Doughnuts locations. The company expected to hire 75 employees to staff the new location.

In May, the building was repainted in shades of gray and black to conform to Boulder's city code.
