Volkswagen has introduced the ID. EVERY1 concept, a preview of its forthcoming entry-level electric vehicle (EV) anticipated for a 2027 launch.
Constructed on the MEB Entry platform, the new compact EV is designed to make electric mobility accessible with a projected price point of around €20,000 ($21,409).
Volkswagen design head Andreas Mindt said: “Our ambition was to create something bold yet accessible. The ID. EVERY1 has a self-assured appearance but remains likeable – thanks to details such as the dynamic front lights and the ‘smiling’ rear.
“These design elements make it more than just a car: they give it character and an identity that people can relate to.”
The ID. EVERY1, with its distinctive design, draws inspiration from its predecessor, the up!, which ceased production in 2023.
The ID. EVERY1, along with the ID. 2all and the sportier ID. GTI Concept, belongs to the Electric Urban Car Family, all based on the new MEB modular electric drive platform with electric front-wheel drive. This platform maximises space utilisation and efficiency.
The concept vehicle, with a 70kW (95 PS) electric drive motor, offers a range of at least 250km and a top speed of 130km/h.
Sized between the former up! and the current Polo, the ID. EVERY1 offers room for four passengers and a 305-litre luggage compartment.
The unveiling of the ID. EVERY1 is part of Volkswagen's broader electric model campaign, encapsulated in the "Future Volkswagen" agreement.
This agreement, forged with employee representatives in December 2024, outlines a vision for economic stability, job security, and technological leadership in sustainable mobility.
Volkswagen plans to launch nine new models, including the production version of the ID.2all for less than €25,000, by 2027.
Both vehicles are said to be integral to Volkswagen's new Electric Urban Car Family, which features front-wheel drive and is being developed collaboratively across the brand's volume manufacturers within the Volkswagen Group.
Volkswagen's strategy for the future hinges on providing a diverse range of mobility options in Europe, particularly with the launch of the all-electric Urban Car Family starting in 2026.
Volkswagen Passenger Cars CEO Thomas Schäfer said: “The ID. EVERY1 is the last piece of the puzzle on our journey to having the widest model selection in the volume segment. We will then offer every customer the right car with the right drive system – including affordable entry-level all-electric mobility.
“Our goal: We will expand our position as the world’s leading volume manufacturer in terms of technology by 2030. And as a brand for everyone – just as you would expect from Volkswagen.”
