SAN JOSE, Calif. - May 27, 2014 - Vocera Communications, Inc. (VCRA), the leading provider of integrated, intelligent communication solutions for healthcare and other mission-critical mobile environments, today announced that Chief Medical Officer M. Bridget Duffy, MD, will be a keynote speaker at the 2014 National Health Leadership Conference, June 2-3 at the Fairmont Banff Springs in Banff, Alberta, Canada.
Dr. Duffy`s presentation, "Bold Leaders in Action: Creating a Culture that Humanizes Care and Improves Outcomes," will be held on Monday, June 2 from 9:10-10:15 a.m. MDT in the Van Horne Ballroom. During this plenary session, Dr. Duffy will discuss the attributes of bold leaders and the lasting impact they have on their organizations. She will also discuss the importance of inspiring, empowering and protecting mavericks and innovators who are willing to disrupt the status quo in healthcare.
"Dr. Bridget Duffy`s voice and message is refreshing. She understands the vital relationship between healthy work environments and patient centered care, including the need to take care of our staff first in order to provide outstanding care that honors the patient`s voice and perspective. The first time I heard Dr. Duffy speak, I knew we needed to connect with her and engage in the work she is leading," said Joy Richards, RN, PhD, vice president of health professions and chief nurse executive at University Health Network (UHN) in Toronto.
As the leader of the patient experience movement, Dr. Duffy has spent more than 20 years defining the components of an optimal healing environment and designing innovative ways to restore humanity to healthcare. She was recently named one of the "Top 50 in Digital Healthcare" by Rock Health, and has been featured in HealthLeaders magazine as one of "20 People Who Make Healthcare Better."
In addition to her keynote, Dr. Duffy will lead a break-out session from 10:45-11:45 a.m. MDT in the Alberta Room, where she will present a case study and lead an interactive learning lab on how to build and maintain a "no excuses" culture that delivers sustainable results. She will be accompanied by two members of the Vocera Experience Innovation Network, a research collaborative and growing group of thought leaders who are accelerating healthcare transformation and putting science behind the human experience of care.
"Dr. Duffy and the Experience Innovation Network are about action, providing the foundation for healthcare organizations to gain traction and make a true difference, not just talk about it. UHN believes the vision and work of the Experience Innovation Network sets this group apart and puts its members on the cutting edge of patient-centered care," said Richards. "We are proud to have been the first Canadian organization to partner with this group of pioneers."
