EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — Tax Day is upon us, have you filed your taxes already?
The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program and GECU has partnered up with over 11 local high schools to provide those last-minute filers with free tax assistance.
These volunteers are students that are IRS-certified, trained and can offer the services in English and Spanish, according to the news release by GECU.
“We are proud to continue our 12-year partnership with the Coalition for Family Economic Progress, empowering our community with free tax preparation services through the VITA program,” said Ruby Alvarez, vice president of GECU Community Development. “Together, we’ve helped residents save millions in tax preparation fees and secure vital funds for essentials like groceries, car payments, and savings.”
There are more than 24 locations throughout El Paso and Las Cruces.
To find a location closest to you and what documents are needed, you can visit the VITA website here.
