VILLE PLATTE, La. (KLFY)– According to Arthur Sampson, a Ville Platte Housing Authority board member, the housing authority’s budget was in the red back in March. However, Sampson said that wasn’t the only time problems were discovered with the budget. Back in November 2023, the board allegedly discovered they were over budget as well.
“We hadn’t had a meeting until around March,” Sampson said. “I looked at it, and I seen that it had come to light that we was over one hundred thousand dollars approximately over budget, about two weeks later we receive a resignation from our executive director.”
Grand Solieau, the executive director, resigned on April 1. Sampson said, right now, board members are closely working with accountants to conduct a full inspection on the budget; that includes an audit.
“Right now, the CPA going to be coming to our next meeting, also we have an attorney to send letters to the legislator, auditor, and HUD OIG, requesting that they come to do a full audit of the housing authority,” Sampson said.

Sampson said, while the investigation is underway, he plans to support residents living at the housing authority.
“I’m here for the residents of this housing complex to make things better, life better for them, to make things better for them and we gonna move forward from there,” Sampson said.
Sampson said a board meeting will be held at the Ville Platte housing authority next Tuesday to discuss what actions will be taken moving forward.
