Verimatrix and Ocilion Partnership Powers IP-Hybrid Network for Stafag Communications AG

AMSTERDAM, THE NETHERLANDS--(Marketwired - Sep 16, 2013) - Verimatrix, the specialist in securing and enhancing revenue for multi-network, multi-screen digital TV services around the globe, and Austrian IPTV technology company Ocilion today announced that Stafag Communications AG has deployed the integrated Ocilion and Verimatrix solution to enable its new Leu CineTV offering, which features time shifted TV, live pause, personal video recorder (PVR) and video-on-demand (VoD) films.

The integrated Verimatrix Video Content Authority System (VCAS™) and Ocilion's iptvCarrier solution provides Stafag a turnkey, standardized solution to help enhance and expand its existing cable network through the use of hybrid DVB-IP set top boxes (STBs), which allow on-demand IP services to be offered in addition to linear content. The service is delivered over Stafag's advanced DVB-C + IPTV hybrid network, requiring sophisticated encryption capabilities to protect the premium VoD content offering. VCAS provides a complete security infrastructure for the advanced hybrid pay-TV service, while also offering Stafag the flexibility to further expand its service offering in the future.

The joint turnkey IPTV and IP hybrid solution helps network operators and service providers seamlessly expand their service offerings with minimal CAPEX, enhancing subscriber loyalty, improving the total user experience (UX), and increasing average revenue per user (APRU).

"Verimatrix and Ocilion helped fuel the launch and success of our new Leu CineTV service by providing Stafag with a complete solution for launching -- and protecting -- our hybrid network," said Markus Schlatter, CEO, Stafag Communications. "Stafag is committed to providing our subscribers with access to a wide range of pay-TV services. Ocilion iptvCarrier and Verimatrix VCAS help us achieve that vision, while also positioning Stafag to add new services in the future."

VCAS provides the tools and support digital TV operators require in order to address the new opportunities arising from the accelerating convergence of video delivery over various types of networks -- whether managed or unmanaged -- to a multitude of devices. It implements a single security authority for multiple networks and devices, supporting various video and digital rights management (DRM) formats while providing a harmonized cross-network entitlement management.

"The launch of Stafag's Leu CineTV offering highlights the increasing popularity of hybrid network architectures," said Steve Oetegenn, chief sales and marketing officer, Verimatrix. "We are delighted to have partnered with Ocilion on this exciting deployment, as we believe our integrated solution offers operators a compelling combination of strengths to help optimize quality, functionality and the consumer experience."
