People looking to sharpen their business skills can get insights from the founder of Venus Swimwear at a free event coming soon.
Volusia County's Economic Development Division, which seeks to grow the local economy, will host the Volusia Business Resources Funding Readiness Workshop from 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Oct. 2 at The Center at Deltona at 1640 Dr. Martin Luther King Blvd. in Deltona.
The main event will be a speech by Daryle Scott, a Stetson University graduate who "founded a mail-order startup from his dorm room and transformed it into Venus Swimwear, a $100 million international brand," according to the county. "Attendees will hear his inspiring story and learn how he acquired funding to propel his business to greater heights."
People will walk away with a better understanding of how to get funding for their business ventures and tools to help them, according to the county. Lenders, people in the finance world and small business consultants will also share tips for small businesses.
"Attendees will learn what lenders and investors expect, know where pre-application work is required, and be able to recognize the type of funding that best fits their venture’s needs," according to the county.
County officials will also talk about the Volusia Business Resources Funding Readiness Center, another tool for business owners and entrepreneurs.
While the event is free, people need to register through Eventbrite at https://VBR-Funding-Readiness-2024.eventbrite.com. Lunch will be included.
