Delta Air Lines (DAL) customers will be able to earn SkyMiles when ordering an Uber (UBER) ride to the airport, thanks to a new partnership in the U.S. between the companies starting in the spring.

Users will earn one mile per dollar spent on UberX rides to and from airports. According to Uber in an announcement Wednesday, 15% of its rides are booked to or from an airport. Last year, the company introduced Uber Shuttle, which runs from LaGuardia Airport in New York to various travel hubs in the city.

Delta's Uber Deal Ends Tie-Up with Lyft

Delta’s deal with Uber ends the airline’s SkyMiles partnership with Uber rival Lyft (LYFT), which was established in 2017. A Lyft spokesperson said Wednesday that the company is “continuing to expand our horizons by joining forces with major brands who share our customer obsession.” That includes Alaska Airlines, which partnered with Lyft in 2022.

Uber had 161 million monthly active users as of the end of the third quarter, while Lyft had 24.4 million.

Separately, Delta announced an agreement Wednesday with Alphabet's YouTube that will allow SkyMiles members to watch and listen to ad-free content onboard its flights.
